This is the first step in Titleist's performance validation process while the product is prepared for release later this year. The Acushnet Company (Titleist, FootJoy) began seeding the AP1 712 Ironsat the AT&T National. A total of 19 players put the prototype irons (AP1, AP2, MB, CB) in play. The Titleist brand led the iron count at the AT&T National with a total of 40 sets in play. Watney's prototype AP2 irons(3-P) were standard length and one degree upright throughout; two degrees weak in the 3, 4, 5, P and one degree weak in the 6, 7, 8, 9. According to Acushnet, Watney decided to put the new irons in the bag after practicing with them for the first time during the Wednesday pro-am round. |
