idol Lee Westwood is expected to be made an honoury freeman of Bassetlaw at an extraordinary meeting at Retford Town Hall on Monday 13th February.
The district authority, The Guardian has reported, will decide at the meeting whether to confer thePing g20 iron set with green dot
title of honorary freeman to Westwood and in doing so grant him Freedom of the District of Bassetlaw.
A council spokesman was quoted as saying: "The conferring of Honorary Freeman recognises the significant contribution an individual has made to the community and enables people of the district to take pride in that honour."
The spokesman added that if the proposal is agreed to, a further council meeting is to held on 20th March to formally present the honour to Westwood.
It will include the presentation of a 'Jewel of Office' to the World No 3.
